Brace yourself (and your equipment)

Field Recorder

If you are a male that while shopping for a new jacket always checks for pockets (amount, size, ...), then PortaBrace is the ultimate wet dream for you.

I today received my ordered carrying case for my Fostex FR-2 plus a side-slinger bag, both from PortaBrace - and I'm deeply impressed. The images shown on their homepage don't do justice enough to the actual product, which is why I included some on my own here (I hope not to step on someones shoes here -- hey, it's free advertisment).

The case for the Fostex is specialized for this model in every conceivable way - and highly modular. The front two bags can be removed alltogether, the cable-securing side-wings can be taped to the back or removed as well. Except for the backside (where the Fostex has no controls), every side is accessible behind tapeable shields - once inserted, I can pretty much imagine you'd never have to remove the recorder again. (Notice that there is even a dedicated window for the onboard-speaker)

As for the bag, I'm still not sure if I found all the compartments - my last count came to 19 dedicated slots of various sizes. As a bonus, I also received one small 'Piggin String'.

I honestly don't know if I'll ever make use of all the possible applications of the little features, but with my first experience I'm quite convinced that PortaBrace the primary choice for professionals.
If you're going out into the field with any equipment (audio, video or whatever), have a look at www.portabrace.com - they have a huge product palette with many model-specific cases.

A final note: the products are all hand made with a dedicated inlay that states the name of the stitching person.
