- About me: MC Magico was born in Cali, Colombia ("la capital de la salsa") but raised as a youth on the streets of West London. This 23 year old rapper/singer has two loves - salsa brava (old school salsa) and hiphop! One of the first latino MCs in the UK, he started out with MC Lyrico Indio and DJ Loco in a project called Sonido Callejero, "the sound of the ghetto", around 5 years ago. This soon became La Raza, the first reggaeton crew to really capture the hearts and minds of London's young Latinos. With DJ Loco on the beats and Magico on the mic, they soon had a couple of club hits with their songs "Vibracion" and "Tracionera". These two tracks were licenced to "Reggaeton Sessions" (Union Square) as well as to Colombia's top record label Discos Fuentes. As reggaeton peaked in the UK in summer 2005, with Daddy Yankee at number 1 worldwide with "Gasolina", La Raza were soon everywhere - club sessions, radio sessions, festivals! Then suddenly at the end of that year, they broke up. Magico cites the negative lyrical content of much reggaeon and latin hiphop as one reason plus a desire to pursue solo material and collaborate with other musicians. Since then, he has been featured as guest MC on a track by Supafly/2AM Productions called "Lets Get Down" on the Universal compilation "Urban Heat". He is also guest on pianist Alex Wilson's "Inglaterra" CD (2006) on the salsaton track "Sube Lo", which he co-wrote. In early 2007, Magico produced a whole library album of urban latin with Alex Wilson for the West One Music. At 23, he's not doing to bad. >>>, SONIDO CALLEJERO 2008, www.myspace.com/mcmagico, mcmagico_sc@yahoo.co.uk
